Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026

1. Service description

WriteLift provides automated, estimated IELTS-style writing assessments for learning purposes. The service is a study aid and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for the official IELTS test or its marking body. IELTS is a registered trademark of the University of Cambridge ESOL, the British Council and IDP Education Australia, none of which endorse this service.

2. How assessment works

Your essay is sent to an external large language model trained on curated data, and the returned assessment is stored in your account. We select which model serves each assessment, because some handle chart-based Task 1 responses better than others, and that selection may change as better models become available. Your essay text is transmitted to that third party solely for the purpose of assessment; see the Privacy Policy for detail. Because a model generates the assessment, feedback can occasionally be incomplete or wrong, so treat a suggestion as advice rather than as an instruction to follow blindly.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account, or have parental consent. You may close your account at any time, which removes your stored essays and reports.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service — for example, by attempting to interfere with it, scraping it at scale, sharing one account between multiple users to avoid plan limits, or submitting content you do not have the right to submit. We may suspend an account that is being used in a way that harms the service or other users.

5. Assessment is not a guarantee

Scores and feedback are estimates produced for practice purposes. They do not predict, guarantee, or replace an official IELTS band score, and results can differ from an official examination. You are solely responsible for decisions you make based on your results.

6. Subscriptions, billing & cancellation

Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. Payment is taken in advance for each billing period. You can cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation stops future charges and access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. Plan limits, such as the number of submissions included, are shown on the pricing page and may change with notice. Refunds are issued at our discretion and in line with applicable consumer-protection law.

7. Content ownership

You retain ownership of the essays you write on WriteLift. By submitting content you grant us a limited licence to store and process it solely to provide the service, including transmitting it to the assessment provider described in section 2. We claim no ownership of your writing.

8. Availability

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Assessment depends on a third-party provider, so a grading run can be delayed or, rarely, fail. A failed assessment can be retried without using another submission from your plan.

9. Limitation of liability

The service is provided 'as is'. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, including any decision made in reliance on an estimated score.

10. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or in-product notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
